The Getty Museum and the Italian Cultural Institute showcase the history of Pompeii in the arts (September 14, 2012)
The multimedia exhibition Inside Out: Pompeian Interiors Exposed (14 September – 12 November 2012), opened Friday at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles. Inside Out  features images and videos that illustrate the evolution of archeological research in the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. It is organized in conjunction with the exhibit at the Getty Villa The Last Days of Pompeii: Decadence, Apocalypse, Resurrection (12 September 2012 – 7 January 2013). As indicated by Consul General Perrone in his remarks, Inside Out is yet another important step in the increasingly pervasive  collaboration between the Italian institutions and the J. Paul Getty Museum. Such a cooperation was recently highlighted by the installation at the Getty Villa in Malibu of the marble group ‘Lion Attacking a Horse’, an extraordinary loan from the Capitoline Museums in Rome, inaugurated on the occasion of the visit to Los Angeles by Rome Mayor Gianni Alemanno.
