LA Chamber Orchestra's “A la carte” series opened at CG's Residence

The 2013 “A la carte” series  introduced by the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) opened on September 28 at Consul General Perrone’s residence with an evening dedicated to Italy, featuring violin duets performed by concertmaster Margaret Batjer and Julie Gigante. LACO’s wonderful violinists were joined by special guest Brenda Miralles to illuminate the instrument’s Italian roots.

The violin has roots all through the ancient world, though most of the characteristics of modern instruments developed between the 16th and 18th centuries in Italy. The Golden Age of violinmaking, exemplified by Stradivari, Guarneri del Gesù and Montagnana, brought about the world’s finest instruments, much sought-after by musicians and collectors alike.
The event was followed by an exclusive dinner featuring traditional and new specialties of Italian cuisine.
