Message of the Consul General
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you on the website of the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles. The new design is the result of a project developed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The launch of this new website is a starting point to improving our online presence and is certainly not the finish line.

The goals we set are: to foster better mutual understanding; to provide clear information on services to the public; to offer useful tools to catalyze ideas, inputs and projects from hundreds of public and private organizations as well as ordinary citizens who day by day nurture the network of relations between Italy and the U.S.

Los Angeles, where the Consulate General is situated has an area of operation that extends to Southern California, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico, is one of the U.S. cities most vividly present in the Italian imaginations. It is a vivacious and creative metropolis associated with Hollywood masterpieces and natural beauty. A place where dreams can still be pursued and make those dreams a reality. Los Angeles is especially a center of economic activity and technological research, a trend-setter in art and lifestyle, where cultural diversity unites to create a very unique lifestyle, which constantly evolves and aims for the future. Los Angeles finds in Italy’s creativity, innovation-oriented culture, a source of constant inspiration that makes it natural and easy to form a strong partnership.

Italy’s Consular representation in Los Angeles dates back to the very beginning of last century. Our area of operation includes States populated by successful communities of Italian Americans, who have given a major contribution to the sophistication and progress of the entire country. Today these same lands offer amazing economic, scientific, and commercial opportunities which increasingly attract the attention of the Italian business community.

In its daily activity the Consulate General in Los Angeles will continue to strive to promote an up-to-date image of Italy and of its diverse and dynamic society. A society that showcases its constant drive for progress and extraordinary modern achievements in every field, yet never forgetting its cultural and artistic treasures accumulated over the course of a glorious history with century-old traditions.

The promotion of the Italian language and culture is one of the primary objectives of the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, in close collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles, for it is through language and culture that a society’s deeper heritage is fully comprehended and dispersed throughout the world. The Consulate General is fully committed to support the community’s effort to strengthen the AP Italian program and innovative projects aimed at further promoting the learning of Italian.

Moreover the Consulate General of Italy also coordinates and guides the local System of Italian Agencies active in our jurisdiction (the Italian Cultural Institute, already mentioned, the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Tourist Board and the Italian Chamber of Commerce) to promote all that is Italian. The “Made in Italy” label covers fashion and commerce, technology and scientific research, as well as the development of concepts. This so called Sistema Italia is the ideal platform to develop valuable cooperative projects with local business and Institutes.

This webpage aims also at being an important tool for highlighting opportunities of cooperation with Italy in every field. We hope by navigation through our website, all the friends of Italy may be encouraged to deepen their knowledge and understanding of our Country and all it has to offer.
